While living in Paris, Jessica Lange started her career as a model when discovered by fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez and worked closely with Wilhelmina Modelling Agency.
After returning to the USA, she worked as a waitress at the Lion’s Head Tavern in Greenwich Village. Through producer Dino De Laurentiis, she entered the entertainment industry and debuted in the King Kong movie.
She played the main character in the 1981 adaptation of The Postman Always Rings Twice. She became the first performer to receive two Academy Award nominations in the same year the following year, in 1982. She plays singer Patsy Cline in the biopic Sweet Dreams.
In the 2000s, she transitioned to television, received appreciation for roles in Grey Gardens and American Horror Story, and won multiple Emmy Awards.
She also returned to Broadway and starred in productions like Long Day’s Journey Into Night. Later, she often did supporting roles in Masked and Anonymous, Big Fish, Don’t Come Knocking, Broken Flowers, and more.
