Liz Truss began her career in politics after completing her graduation. She started working with Shell as a chartered management accountant in 1999.
Later, she joined Cable & Wireless where she reached the position of an economic director. She entered politics when she became the chair of the Lewisham Deptford Conservative Association in 1998.
At the age of 25, she entered parliamentary politics but did not win a seat representing Hemsworth in Labour-dominated West Yorkshire. In 2005 she again stood for the election but failed to win this time as well.
In 2010, she became the MP for South West Norfolk. In the next 2 years, she was appointed as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of state at the Department for Education.
Later for two years, she served as Environment Secretary and was also appointed as Justice Secretary and Lord Chancellor.
Before she became the prime minister, she was held responsible for the following positions: Chief Secretary to Treasury (2017-2019), International Trade Secretary (2019-2021), and Foreign Secretary (2021-2022).
She contested for the Conservative Leadership party election and became the prime minister. But within 2 months, she resigned from the position and competed for the election again to defeat Johnson. Unfortunately, Rishi Sunak won the seat by the margin.
