Prior to acting, Ryoko Shinohara started her career in singing and became a member of the 90s idol group Tokyo Performance Doll.
During the early 90s, she released her first single Itoshisa to Setsunasa to Kokoro Zuyosa which became a successful hit.
She made her film debut with Shin Funky Monkey Teacher Dotsukaretarunen and TV debut with Houkago. She received a major breakthrough with her casting in the TV series Anego and Unfair.
