Aaron Dontez Yates, professionally known as Tech N9ne is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur who is better known for his speed rap abilities called Chopper style. It was rapper ‘Black Walt’ who gave the name Tech N9ne to him due to his fast-rhyming Chopper style.
Tech N9ne originated from the TEC-9 semi-automatic handgun. His music is featured in numerous films, television, and video games and has sold over two million albums now. In 2009, he won the Left Field Woodie award at the MTV U Woodie Awards.

As per his career, in 1991, he was a member of the group, Black Mafia. After that, he joined the group 57th Street Rogue Dog Villians and they’re single, “Let’s Get Fucked Up” earned the group success. In 1993, he signed with Perspective Records and was a member of the group Nnutthowze.
He moved to JCOR Records after signing with Qwest Records. In 1997, he joined the group The Regime. In 1998, he was featured on the soundtrack from the film Gang Related. In 1999, he found a record label, Strange Music with Travis O’Guin.
In 1999, he released his debut album, The Calm Before the Storm, and his second album, The Worst was released in 2000. In 2001, he released his studio album, Angelic on JCOR Records. In 2006, he released the album, Everready (The Religion). Till now, he released a total of 12 albums.

In January 2014, he announced the “Independent Grind” tour which included Freddie Gibbs, Krizz Kaliko, and Jarren Benton. In 2017, he earned his first platinum record for Caribou Lou in 18 years.
